Virtual Distance Learning

March 26, 2020

Virtual Distance Learning Environment via GOOGLE Classroom.  Google Classroom is designed to help teachers create and collect assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google Document for each student.  It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organized.  Thus, students are able to keep track of what’s due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click.  Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn’t completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom.  https://www.google.com/edu/classroom/
While Google Apps is a suite of web-based messaging and collaboration applications hosted by Google Suite for Education, in our case; this platform is managed by Ridgeview Charter School.  Google provides these applications as a “service,” rather than as software you have to download and install. To access these applications, you simply use a web browser on any computer that’s connected to the Internet.

As we venture into our “new normal” Distance Learning environment via GOOGLE Classroom, we want you to know that we at Ridgeview Charter School will make virtual Distance Learning as flexible as possible for our families, as we understand that you may be under some stress at this time.
At Ridgeview Charter, we are committed to being flexible and to providing quality over quantity.  Since we have never been in this distance learning environment for all learning, we ask you to partner with us as it will take some time to make adjustments.  As we begin this Distance Learning journey, we want to make virtual learning a complete success for our students and families; so thank you in advance for your patience, understanding, and grace as we navigate this journey together.

Please check your email and have your student check their school email. Your teachers are reaching out to you and students to provide instructions and information on how to help you prepare for Monday, March 30th.  Student email accounts must be activated by Monday, March 30, 2020.  If questions, please reach out to your students teacher.

Beginning Monday, March 30th through May 15th, your students teacher will provide instruction through distance learning via GOOGLE Classroom.  Our teachers are using GOOGLE Classroom to post all classroom instructions and assignments along with other video conference apps to stay connected with their students and families.  All Ridgeview Charter Students, must check their school email and respond to their teachers and complete/submit assignments using their school email. Teachers can assist you with student email accounts.

Again, thank you for your continued support and involvement in your student’s education. Together, we will work to ensure that our students succeed.  Please expect your weekly Sunday communication to resume this week as we begin Distance Learning instruction via GOOGLE Classroom on Monday, March 30th.
