She began applying to open Ridgeview Charter School back in 2016 but did not receive approval from the State Board of Education to open until 2018. Opening the school was a dream of Williams and her husband.
“This was both of our legacies,” she said.

About Ridgeview Charter School
Curriculum
The curriculum is based on international studies, focusing on the general education areas of study as well as the arts and physical education. Courses will aim to give students an internationally-influenced education, similar to what one would find at an International Baccalaureate school. Students will also learn foreign languages such as Japanese, French, German and Spanish.
It’s a very highly-regarded curriculum. It brings an international perspective to the students. Within that curriculum, there are opportunities for students and staff to talk with students from other countries. So we will build that branch with our students and staff reaching out to people in other countries.
